  • Helped produce school’s first ever annual report published by the Dean.

University of California, Irvine

Assistant Director, Media Relations                      October 2000 – October 2005
Assisted director with University media relations, serving as spokesperson when director was unavailable. Served as communications officer for four schools – arts, humanities, social sciences and social ecology. Wrote press releases, pitch letters and articles for publications and Web site.
Select Accomplishments:
  • Initiated outreach efforts with ethnic media outlets; hosted La Opinion editors on campus to meet with a dozen faculty and administrators.
  • Created online faculty experts database for media.
  • Routinely handled media calls regarding administrative concerns including sensitive issues such as strike by lecturers, a fraternity sanctioned, and fire on campus.
  • Pitched stories to local and national reporters on a regular basis with excellent results.

  •  Managed release of information, internal and external, for Memorial Health Systems’ merger with Anaheim Memorial Hospital and its purchase of an FHP hospital.
  • Produced Health System Annual Report featuring quality indicators and community benefit information.
  • Edited and managed production of a quarterly four-color magazine supporting the Memorial Foundation’s successful $40 million endowment/capital campaign.
